The Shuffle

Stand naturally, allowing your arms to lie relaxed at your side. (Fig 1.) Focus on the music, whilst allowing your eyes to move towards the floor.

 

Continue this movement, allowing your head to follow through until your stance represents figure 2, your head at an angle of about 15 degrees to your body, looking at your feet.

Do not move your concentration from your feet.

Shift your weight slightly and push your right foot forward about 12" (30cm for our foreign friends) It is important that your foot never actually leaves the ground. Shift your weight again and bring your left foot parallel with your right. Repeat this manoeuver, but "shuffle" right, then back, then left. Use footprint diagram as a reference. Repeat until the song has ended, or you get bored.
